BALKAN BUSINESS BREAKFAST – Belgrade. CME’s Voyo on demand business is being affected by 150 pirate sites, offering mostly US content obtained from other sources.
However, its content is DRM protected and the service is performing well in all six CEE markets it is present in.
This, said Petr Horak, head of Voyo, CME, was in large part down to its focus on local content, which attracts 60% of traffic, with nine out of 10 of the most viewed titles being CME productions.
He added that the 60% figure was comparable to that for Netflix. Horak in addition said that connected TV should help reduce piracy.
Furthermore, he said that the channel Nova Sport had launched on Voyo in the Czech Republic yesterday (October 8) and would soon also be introduced in other CME markets.
