WATCH VIDEO. MIPCOM 2012 – Cannes. French channel distributor Thema has launched the Nollywood TV channel on French platforms, bringing a selection of Nigerian movies to French homes.
Programming on Nollywood TV consists of 750 hours of original Nigerian movie productions, which Thema acquired following a deal with Multichoice’s Africa Magic TV channel. All movies, which have an English language original soundtrack, will be dubbed in French.
The new channel is part of Thema’s Bouquet Africain Premium, which is available on all French IPTV platforms. Nollywood TV will be marketed in France and all French overseas territories, as well as in French-speaking Africa.
The channel is first launched on Free’s IPTV platform, with others to follow.
Thema also offers a basic African bouquet consisting of 19 channels, which currently has 140,000 subscribers.
