The Sailing Channel connects on smart TVs

October 7, 2012 07.37 Europe/London By Robert Briel

The Sailing Channel (TSC) is offering its catalogue of premium and HD sailing destination and how-to documentaries on smart TV and web-enabled devices.

The Sailing Channel app on woomi brings its programming to owners of Toshiba and Panasonic smart TVs and TechniSat ISIO set-top boxes across Europe and the UK, with further plans to launch in the US and on other renowned devices. Woomi viewers can register and rent titles directly through their TV.

TSC has its own app on LG devices, created by Accedo Broadband, a provider of TV apps reaching more than 10 million households in over 25 countries. This allows its users to watch TSC content on their LG connected television plus their computers, tablets, and smart phones.

YouTube also offers premium and HD-streaming rental services, a platform for TSC to simultaneously release over 100 of its free, short videos and trailers. Its SailFlix playlist is a compilation of feature-length sailing documentaries and technical films available for rental online, available in the US and a growing number of countries.

TSC has become a major distributor of professional sailing videos by sailors and producers with a passion for sailing and cruising since 2005, when it first started distributing its content as digital downloads. Popular episodes such as Lin and Larry Pardey’s productions, HDTV titles, how-to guides and destination documentaries are optimised for big-screen viewing.
