PIKE 2012 – Jachranka. Poland would like to see as much self-regulation as possible in its VOD sector, according to Krzysztof Luft, a member of the country’s National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).
Speaking in an opening presentation at the 39th International Conference and Exhibition (PIKE 2012) in Jachranka, near Warsaw, he also spoke about an upcoming tender for four frequencies on the country’s first DTT multiplex.
One of those frequencies, the regulator has already agreed, will be allocated to a channel offering religious/social programming.
Michal Boni, from the Ministry of Administration and Digitisation, meanwhile spoke about the importance of discussing three issues, namely authors’ rights, the digital dividend and the transition from analogue to digital broadcasting.
The latter is being undertaken on a region by region basis, starting from next month – and what services, including hybrid, will eventually be offered via DTT.
