TalkTalk has officially launched its YouView offer with a £24 triple play package. Customers are being offered a free YouView set-top box, nominally priced at £299, and manufactured for the telco by Huawei.
TalkTalk is a partner in the BBC-led hybrid service that also includes ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, Arqiva and BT.
The TalkTalk Plus TV package is priced at £14.50 per month on top of the £9.50 required telephone line rental.
In order to receive the full selection of channels, customers must first have a terrestrial aerial, as the most popular linear channels will be taken from the DTT platform Freeview.
Although a 3 Mbps broadband speed is being recommended by TalkTalk, a higher 5 Mbps is required for what are described as ‘TV Boosts’, premium and basic pay channels including Sky Movies, ESPN, Sky 1 & 2, Sky Arts 1 & 2, MTV, Cartoon Network, National Geographic, etc.
Lovefilm instant is also available through TalkTalk.
These TV Boosts are priced at £5 a month for the TV Starter Boost, through to £15 for the Entertainment Extra boost and £30 for the 5-channel Sky Sports Boost.
TakTalk will charge customers £200 for the YouView box if they leave mid-contract.
