The Russian DTH platform Orion Express is finally expected to start using Intelsat’s Horizons 2 satellite this October.
Vedomosti reports that this follows over a year after the company signed a contract, worth more than $100 million (€77.63 million), with Intelsat in September 2011.
Orion Express, which is currently distributed via Intelsat 15 and Express-AM3, is the second largest DTH operation in Russia after Tricolor TV, claiming 750,000 subscribers as of the end of this June.
It was initially expected to start using Horizons 2, which will help it launch a number of new services including HD channels, at the beginning of this year.
