Boxee is opening up its Cloudee to everyone and roll out new features to make it easier to store videos in the cloud and share them with family and friends.
Boxee first announced Cloudee last June and spent the summer in private beta. Now the service is launching in “open beta”.
As part of the new Cloudee, Boxee has introduced a desktop uploader for videos stored on a computer. Download of the uploader is available for both Mac and Windows.
There is a completely new web interface to manage videos from any browser as well as share then with friends. In Boxee speak: “Since Cloudee stores your videos on the Internet, you and the friends you share with can watch them from any web browser. Your family and friends don’t need to have a fancy phone or a Cloudee account to watch the videos you share.”
Integration with Facebook allows for easier sharing to any friend. With the new update, it is also possible to send videos with anyone from an address book.
Cloudee is now optimised for iOS6 and iPhone 5 making full use of the screen quality.
