The latest version of the Nintendo Wii is to feature a GamePad with an integrated second screen that can be used independently of the TV set.
Launching across Europe on November 30, the Wii U will be available with 8 GB and 32 GB of internal storage. The accompanying GamePad can be used both to play games on screen and independently.
Current versions of the Wii already include access to catch-up TV services such as the BBC iPlayer, which are presented in ‘channels’, effectively apps.
In a link with TiVo, viewers in the US and Canada will be able to search for content across the DVR as well as the device itself. Links have also been established with Netflix, Amazon, YouTube and Hulu.
Further details will be announced later.
