The Czech national commercial station TV Barrandov has been acquired by the entrepreneur Jaromir Soukup for an undisclosed fee.
According to E15, Soukup, whose interests include the media and communications group Medea, has secured the station by buying its operator Barrandov Studios from Moravia Steel, itself owned by the entrepreneurs Jan Moder, Tomas Chrenek, Maria Balskova and Evzen Balko.
TV Barrandov was launched in 2009 and as of last year claimed an audience share of around 5%.
This made it the fourth most popular station in the Czech Republic after TV Nova, Prima TV and publicly owned CT.
