Germany’s HD+ service is introducing a hybrid VOD portal with private broadcaster RTL as its launching partner, according to Handelsblatt.
“With this new offer we increase the attractiveness of HD+,” said Wilfried Urner, CEO of the satellite platform, which is available on the Astra position at 19.2 degrees East for German-speaking DTH homes.
Under the brand name HD Plus Replay the satellite provider is offering a service, which can be accessed via dedicated hybrid HD+ satellite receivers and smart TV sets.
Just last week, HD+ launched its HD+ Smart TV Demokanal on Astra, demonstrating the virtues of the platform including a wide range of smart TV apps.
At the moment, a large number of apps is available, including football magazine Kicker, TV guide TV Movie, news and current affairs from Bild.de, catch-up TV from Arte and cinema news from Kino.de. The total number of apps should reach 50 by the end of the year.
By adding RTL to the line-up HD+ viewers have also access to catch-up programming from the RTL channels RTL, Vox, N-TV and Super RTL.
