Ukraine has changed the controversial new must-carry rule it was going to impose on its cable industry.
Mediasat and ProIT report that the country’s National Council for Television and Radio Broadcasting will no longer require operators to include all digital terrestrial channels in their programme packages.
Instead, they will be expected to broadcast digital terrestrial channels that operate in their area.
The main difference between the old and new systems is that operators will now have time to make changes ahead of the renewal of broadcasting licences.
The new rule will be in place until 2015.
