Gemany’s largest cable operator Kabel Deutschland has surpassed one million HD homes.
The operator has also added five HD channels from RTL Deutschland, RTL HD, Vox HD, RTL II HD, Super RTL HD and RTL Nitro HD. The five HD channels are part of the Privat HD package.
On June 30, 2012 Kabel Deutschland reported 688,000 individual HD subscriptions to the Privat HD bouquet. The one million HD homes also include people who just receive the HD channels of the public broadcasters.
The cable operator is currently pushing HD and hopes to offer a total of 35 HD channel this October by adding AXN HD, Cartoon Network HD and Kinowelt HD.
The cabler said it is in active discussions with more broadcasters to expand the HD offer even further.
