Régis Saint Girons has been appointed as the chief executive officer of software developer httv.
Saint Girons has spent over 20 years in the industry. He was one of the founders of OpenTV, who he joined in 1995 from Thomson Multimedia, and finally left in October 2011.
“We welcome Régis’ experience and leadership to httv,” said Bernard Dupin, President of httv group. “In his new role as Chief Executive Officer, Régis will be responsible for delivering httv’s new middleware business and will support its international development following the recent acquisition of SindiTV in Singapore.”
“httv has demonstrated over the past 15 years its expertise in deploying advanced Digital TV solutions in numerous markets,” said Saint Girons. “I am excited to lead the httv new middleware strategy at a time when the Digital TV industry is in great demand for new solutions”
Saint Girons helped position OpenTV as one of the leading middlewares. During his time in charge of the Thomson Research & Development laboratory in Los Angeles he helped establish MPEG as the Digital TV solution for DirectTV and ACTV, the US HDTV standard.
He currently serves as the President of the AFDESI, the French Association for the Interactive TV industry.
