Russia’s MTS plans to be offering pay-TV services entirely in digital by the beginning of 2014.
Quoted by Comnews, Dmitry Bagdasaryan, the director of its fixed line business, nevertheless said that the company may retain some analogue services in the event of unfair practices by rivals, who may provide 80-100 channels for free or a nominal R10 (€0.25) a month.
Bagdasaryan added that MTS’ plans for the future involve offering customers both conventional digital and hybrid digital services.
The latter are likely to be launched at the end of this year or in early 2013 and will account for 10% of connections in the future.
