Plans by DMOL to reshuffle the UK’s DTT programme guide have been put on hold pending an appeal by Sky.
Changes to the News and Children’s genres by the industry backed organisation for the management of the UK DTT platform (commonly referred to as Freeview) will not now go ahead, but the new numbering system will be put in place across the other genres.
Under the plans DMOL plans to move the Children’s genre to LCNs (Logical Channel Numbers) 121 to 130 and the News genre to LCNs 131 to 150.
Sky News currently broadcasts on Channel 82.
Although several channel numbers will change, broadcasters will keep their relative positions.
Twenty spaces have also been created for HD services, starting at 101. There will also be a new Freeview information service at 100 and a dedicated section for internet-delivered services.
