The Russian cable operator ER Telecom has added three more HD channels to its Dom.ru TV ‘Home Entertainment Centre’ service, bringing the total to 23.
MGM HD, Set HD and MyZen HD are now included in what is one of the most comprehensive basic HD packages on offer in Russia, with the number of channels it contains set to triple to 70 by next year.
The news comes at a time when HD channels are becoming increasingly popular and at the same time the source of controversy in Russia.
The latter stems from Tricolor TV, the country’s leading DTH platform, allegedly undercutting its competitors in order to make HD channels a mass-market product.
