SeaChange links with TiVo for new VOD platform

August 16, 2012 09.45 Europe/London By Julian Clover

SeaChange International and TiVo have announced the availability of a joint solution for cable operators looking to advanced video on demand.

The next generation ‘Cardio’ solution now supports Cisco as well as Motorola platforms, covering the two principal cable technology systems used in the United States.

Cardio comprises SeaChange’s interactive consumer electronics gateway software and servers that interface directly and seamlessly to TiVo’s user interface and TiVo’s set-top boxes including the Premiere, Premiere Q and Preview models.

Cardio allows subscribers with TiVo boxes to enjoy a cable operator’s complete VOD library including high definition content.

“Cardio improves upon a simple and hugely popular goal to give operators more choice in set-tops and subscriber experience while further leveraging their SeaChange video back office,” said Anthony Landamia, executive director, product management, SeaChange. “SeaChange and TiVo solved a fundamental challenge for operators who invested in VOD yet wanted to expand set-top options without disruption. Its capabilities will continue to evolve and support more devices and digital network vendors.”

David Sandford, vice president and general manager of TiVo’s Service Provider Business said, “We are pleased to continue working with SeaChange to enhance the features available through Cardio, enabling operators to leverage their VOD infrastructure investments while taking advantage of TiVo’s proven advanced television solution. Through using TiVo and SeaChange’s integrated solution, operators can quickly and cost effectively deploy a best-in-class experience that is customized to them.”

Cardio is deployed with cable television operators serving markets across the United States.
