Liberty Global is facing competition in its bid to acquire the Polish cable operator Multimedia Polska.
Quoting unnamed sources, agency reports say that the private equity funds Cinven and Premira, along with Liberty Global, have been shortlisted for the second round, with Tomek Ulatowski and Ygal Ozechov likely to decide in September whether to hold talks with one or more of the bidders.
Both Multimedia Polska and Vectra claim to be the second largest cable operators in Poland after UPC Polska, though the latter has – following last year’s acquisition of Aster – around twice as many subscribers as each of them.
Multimedia Polska is believed to be valued at around €800 million.
