Poland’s leading DTH platform Cyfrowy Polsat has signed a letter of intent with Polkomtel that has effectively made the mobile internet services it now offers available throughout the whole country.
Under the terms of agreement between the two parties, Cyfrowy Polsat can offer internet access on the 2G and 3G frequencies currently employed by Polkomtel, using HSPA and EDGE/GPRS technology.
HSPA/HSPA+ technology gives coverage of 85% of the population, with the figure rising to 100% once 2G is factored in.
Some 28% of Poles can meanwhile now receive the fastest LTE-based service offered by Cyfrowy Polsat.
Cyfrowy Polsat has been an MVNO since 2008. It began using HSPA+ and LTE technologies in February 2010 and September 2011 respectively.
