Deutsche Telekom’s TV service Entertain is going from strength to strength, with the number of subscribers, including via DTH, reaching 1,830,000 as of the end of the second quarter.
This was 6.1% more than three months earlier and 40.7% higher than in the same period in 2011.
Significantly, over 100,000 customers signed up for the service in Q2 alone, by which time 239,000 were using Entertain via Sat, launched in September 2011.
Telekom’s share of the German broadband market stood at 45% in the first six months of this year, with the number of lines increasing by 149,000 over the period to 12.4 million. Of these, 722,000 opted for VDSL lines.
Telekom’s share of the fixed line telephony segment meanwhile continues to fall, with customers switching to other telcos, cable operators and mobile wholesale products.
The Telekom Group as a whole had net revenues of €28.8 billion in the first half of the year, almost unchanged from that in 2011, with Germany accounting for 44.2% of the total.
EBIT fell by €0.4 billion to €2.8 billion, while net profit rose from €0.8 billion to €0.9 billion.
