The performance of its DTH platform n was one of the few highlights in what was otherwise a difficult second quarter for the Polish national commercial broadcaster TVN. ]
Platform n ended June with 983,000 subscribers, or 19% more than a year earlier, and with a monthly ARPU of just over PLN61 (€14.9).
It added 17,000 subscribers in the quarter, compared to a net loss of 4,000 a year earlier, while its 12-month churn rate was 12.4%, which TV deems to be “a level representative for the industry best practice”.
Pay-TV revenues rose by PLN35 million, or 19% year-on-year, to PLN215 million in Q2, while EBITDA fell by almost PLN3 million year-on-year to PLN4 million.
This was largely due to higher fixed and variable programming costs.
TVN as a whole saw its reported Q2 revenue fall 8% year-on-year in Q2, while reported EBITDA was down 28%, due to a weak advertising market.
