The Polish public broadcaster TVP plans to launch its next two thematic channels – TVP Rozrywka and TVP Dokument – by the end of this year or in early 2013.
Quoted by Wirtualne Media, its president Juliusz Braun said that the two channels would operate within existing structures, with entertainment-based Rozywka working alongside TVP2 and documentary-focussed Dokument TVP1.
Although the channels will be FTA and distributed by cable and satellite, TVP would like to secure DTT coverage should slots become available.
This would be the case if TVP retains some capacity on the first multiplex when it migrates to the third, in Braun’s view.
Braun also said it was time to start a debate on what will be Poland’s fourth and fifth DTT multiplexes.
