Romania’s RCS&RDS continues to grow its cable subscriber base through the acquisition of smaller operators.
According to ZF, the latest to be added to its portfolio was Pacris, a company based in the Black Sea town of Constanta, earlier this year.
Formerly owned by the Chira family, it had a turnover of €500,000 last year and an estimated 6,000-10,000 subscribers.
Perhaps even more significantly, it is estimated that RCS&RDS gained a total of around 200,000 cable subscribers last year through acquisitions, paying an estimated €20 million in the process.
RCS&RDS faces strong competition in the Romanian cable market from UPC Romania, with Romtelecom’s NextGen Communications also becoming an increasingly important player.
