IBC 2012 – PREVIEW: This year’s keynote speakers lean heavily on the content sector. While the IBC 2012 exhibition is very much about the technology, everyone concerned will acknowledge that it is the content that holds it all together.
Among those who have been invited to appear are Mike Darcey, COO, BSkyB; Richard Halton, CEO, YouView; Roger Mosey, director of London 2012, BBC and Brian Sullivan, CEO, Sky Deutschland.
All of them have been involved in the rollout of multiscreen services, in the case of Darcey, Sky Go is becoming an essential part of the UK broadcaster’s portfolio. Brian Sullivan also has Sky Go to offer his customers, but is doing so as part of an accerlated deployment of advanced services design to put Sky at the forefront of Germany’s digital consumers.
YouView’s Richard Halton will be making his first major conference appearance since the much delayed launch of the PSB-telco hybrid TV service.
Playing a leading roll in technology is executive vice president global media & CEO advisor, Samsung Electronics, David Eun. The TV manufacturer has emerged as one of the leaders in the emergence of connected TV sets.
Much the same can be said for Per Borgklint, vice president & head of business unit, Ericsson, which is heavily involved in both the creation of new technologies and the setting of standards.
