The UK’s Channel 4 has confirmed that during this month over five million people will have registered with the broadcaster as it builds on the programme launched by David Abraham in 2011 to give viewers a more personalised experience.
Channel 4 is the first broadcaster in the UK to register viewer data to inform its strategy and as of the end of 2011 two million had already signed up.
By doing so, they are being offered an enhanced experience with exclusive content, including online premieres before they arrive on TV.
As part of the celebrations marking the five million registrations, Channel 4 will offer both new and existing users the opportunity to take over its new brand channel, 4seven, for a night, picking their favourite Channel 4 shows.
In another development, the broadcaster has confirmed a series of trails with major UK media agencies and clients to test new advertising innovation and solutions using Channel 4’s data platform in a live environment.
