Turner Broadcasting System Europe has been revealed as one of several parties that have expressed an interest in securing capacity on Poland’s first DTT multiplex.
Publishing the results of a consultation on the allocation of four slots on the multiplex ahead of a tender, the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) says that details of Turner’s interest are confidential.
However, it can be publicly stated that the company would like to operate a children’s channel on the multiplex.
Turner operates Cartoon Network and retro Boomerang in Central & East Europe and also offers the pre-school Cartoonito in the UK market.
Other broadcasters that have put down their names include Cyfrowy Polsat, TVN and TVP.
Significantly, the KRRiT says that it has received huge support for the religious-oriented channel TV Trwam and that it will be allocated a slot on the first multiplex.
Capacity on the multiplex will be freed up once TVP migrates its main channels to the third multiplex.
