The 24-hour martial arts channel Blackbelt TV has signed a distribution agreement with CanalSat that will put it in 52 countries and territories.
In a phased rollout, Blackbelt TV will initially launch in France on September 18 and then be subsequently introduced in other markets the Vivendi-owned subscription service is present in.
Commenting on the agreement, Larry Kasanoff, Blackbelt TV’s CEO and founder, said that it is part of a “very aggressive international strategy” that should make the channel, which will be localised in all the markets it enters, available to some 20 million homes by the end of the year.
The international film star and businessman Christopher Lambert is a partner in Blackbelt TV and was instrumental in securing the deal with CanalSat.
