The performance of Orange’s digital TV business was one of the few bright spots in what otherwise a challenging first half of the year for the company.
In Europe, its IPTV and satellite subscriber total rose by 19.7% year-on-year to 5.5 million at the end of June, which was equivalent to 908,000 new additions year-on-year.
Although this was primarily in France and Poland, it also applied to Belgium and Slovakia.
Meanwhile in the fixed broadband sector, the group had a total of 14.7 million subscribers as of the end of June, a 4.7% increase year-on-year, with 654,000 net additions.
Of these, 378,000 were in France, 194,000 in other European countries and 82,000 in Africa and the Middle East.
Orange’s consolidated revenues in H1 were stable, being 0.1% lower than a year earlier.
In France, revenue decline was limited to 2%, while in Poland it fell by 1.1% and was stable in most other European countries with the notable exception of Spain, where it grew by 4.8%. Net income in H1 amounted to €1.909 billion, compared to €2.095 billion a year earlier.
