The Lithuanian incumbent telco TEO LT has provided an assessment of the country’s upcoming analogue switch off, which will take place in 100 days time.
In its view, the pace of switching from analogue to digital TV between now and ASO will be eight times faster than it was in the first half of this year.
As of this June, 21% of TV homes in the country still received analogue services, with the figure even higher at around 33% in rural areas.
Although TV viewing increased by 8% – from 280 to 303 minutes a day – between 2007 and 2011, Lithuanians appear to be strongly divided between those who have been familiar with digital technologies for years and those who are completely new to them.
TEO LT is a leading provided of digital services in the country, operating both DTT and IPTV platforms under the Gala brand name.
