The Italian antitrust authority has extended the deadline for closing the investigation into Sky’s football rights until December 31, 2012, according to local reports.
The investigation was launched November 3, 2010 against Sky Italia into the TV rights for 2010 and 2014 World Cup and the Champions League 2012-2015.
The authority is looking whether the satellite TV broadcaster had abused its dominant position by buying the exclusive rights.
The original deadline was set at June 30, but due to “the complexity of the matters to be assessed and, at the same time, the need to conduct further inquiry”, the deadline is now extended till the end of the year.
