Broadcasters on both sides of the Atlantic have begun to release new smartphone apps in time for the London 2012 Olympics.
The BBC has published its Android and iPhone apps with a shortcut introduced for Blackberry devices.
Developed by the BBC’s mobile platforms team at Mediacity, UK, it features a page for each of the 36 Olympic sports, including information on the rules, medal tallies, news stories and key facts.
Several thousand hours of video will be available to view live.
Content from NBC Universal’s channels, including NBC Sports Network, MSNBC, CNBC and Bravo, will also be streamed.
