Liberty has announced the appointment of Niall Curran as the president of content division Chellomedia. Curran replaces Shane O’Neill who died in February, having resigned the previous December.
A key figure in the growth of Chellomedia, Curran has been the company’s chief operating officer since 2003.
Chellomedia houses 56 channels (37 100% owned and 19 joint ventures), which are produced and distributed through a series of operating companies and business units.
The channels collectively have an international footprint of 357 million TV households and delivered US$ 500m revenue in 2011.
There are also joint ventures with media companies including A+E, CBS and MGM and leading platform businesses Polsat and Zon Multimedia.
Chellomedia also provides a full range of TV services through its B2B businesses – At Media and Chello DMC (formerly the Digital Media Centre) – to a variety of leading international channels.
Between 1995 and 2000 Curran was with the Walt Disney Company leaving from the position of Executive Vice President Operations for Walt Disney Europe.
