Samsung has become the first TV manufacturer to offer the ITV Player on its Smart TVs.
The commercial broadcaster has launched an app in Samsung’s Smart TV store.
The manufacturer says it is part of a commitment to offer viewers the fullest range of catch-up TV. It comes in the week that YouView launched with catch-up services available from all of the big five UK channels
James Micklethwait, online product director, ITV said: “We want to give more viewers the opportunity to watch ITV content On Demand in their homes. Connected TV’s have come of age in the last year, and therefore we are very excited to partner with Samsung to launch ITV Player onto their Smart TV platform.”
Robert King, vice president of consumer electronics for Samsung UK added, “Viewers are no longer restricted to the TV guide and can watch hours of top quality entertainment when they like. This time it’s on the biggest screen in the home and we’re proud to offer our customers the most complete catch-up services via the true-to-life picture quality and revolutionary product design of their Smart TV.’’
Demand Five is already available on Samsung Smart TVs, as is the BBC iPlayer, YouTube, Teletext Holidays, Curzon on Demand, Muzu.tv, Facebook and Twitter.
