Sky Sports has added new split-screen technology that will allow users of its iPad app watch Formula 1 coverage from to different camera angles.
Viewers can set two live camera feeds from a selection of video sources including a driver’s camera.
David Gibbs, director of Sky Sports Digital Media commented, “The Sky Sports for iPad app – which has already received more than half a million downloads – is yet another example of how Sky Sports continues to innovate to bring an even richer viewing experience to customers. The update to the Formula 1 companion experience will allow customers to get even more out of our Formula 1 coverage through innovative split-screen technology, which we also plan to introduce as part of our companion app experience for other sports including football and golf later this year.”
Other new features include TV Guide integration, which enables users to be able to review the next three programmes, on a particular channel and set reminders through their device, along with Remote Record functionality should users be on the move and want to record an upcoming game, race or match.
Bespoke team pages have also been added for cricket at both county and international levels.
The app is free to Sky Sports subscribers; non-subscribers pay £4.99 per month through In-App Purchase.
