The Czech regional station Metropol TV may soon see its second change in ownership in just over a year.
Unconfirmed local reports in E15 and Euro say it has become a take-over target for Andrei Babis, the owner of the holding Agrofert, whose interests include the publishing company AGF Media.
Metropol TV, which currently lists the local entrepreneur Lubos Mekota as its largest shareholder, was launched as Prague-only service in 2010 and was initially distributed only via cable.
However, it subsequently also became available in the cities of Brno, Ostrava and Plzen and secured carriage on the country’s third DTT multiplex at the beginning of this year.
Prior to Lubos Mekota acquiring a stake in Metropol TV the station was majority owned by 11 TV production and A-News.
