Digital TV in CEE – PRAGUE. The Polish DTH platform n has enjoyed considerable success with its DVR product, while the take-up of its VOD service is still relatively low.
According to Jan Frelek, head of business development, ITI Neovision, 61% of its customer base are now DVR users.
Significantly, 12% of TV households in Poland use DVRs, and those receiving platform n services account for around of the total.
This contrasts with the 14% of n customers that use VOD, with the overwhelming majority being for subscription rather transactional services.
Frelek added that although awareness of VOD was high in Poland, its adoption faces a number of barriers.
Surprisingly, price is relatively low down the list, with the main factors being no need and no interest.
Frelek also said that all of platform n’s 1,050,000 subscribers receive VOD services.
The platform launched both its DVR and VOD products around five and a half years ago.
