Kabel Deutschland and RTL Germany have signed a major agreement for the carriage of HD content.
The new agreement means that RTL, Vox, Super RTL and RTL II will be available in the HD format on Germany’s largest cable operator from the beginning of September. The agreement also covers digital standard definition.
The two will also co-operate on the delivery of video on demand, while pay-basic channel RTL Living will also be added later in the year.
The channels will be added to KDG’s’ HD Private’ packages at no extra cost, while RTL Living will be included as part of ‘Kabel Premium Extra’.
No contract details have been disclosed.
Earlier this week, public broadcasters ARD, ZDF and Arte cancelled their carriage contracts with the three major German cable operators, Kabel Deutschland, Kabel BW and Unitymedia, in a dispute over carriage fees.
