Eutelsat seals key Balkan deals

June 27, 2012 08.31 Europe/London By Chris Dziadul

Digital TV in CEE – PRAGUE. Eutelsat has entered into a partnership with the Bosnian company TEAM:MEDIA to launch what it describes as a DTH distribution bouquet serving the country.

It has also expanded its co-operation with Serbia Broadband (SBB) to launch triple-play services. Speaking in a press conference, Apostolos Triantafyllou, regional sales director ar Eutelsat, said that the project in Bosnia, which has been in the making for three years, will not be a pay service per se.

Rather, it will bring together seven TV channels and two radio stations, with some being offered for free and some for a fee, on a single multiplex.

In due course, however, the platform, known as TEAM:SAT, will become a pay-only service. TEAM;SAT will make its debut on September 1 and besides viewers in Bosnia &Herzegovina will target expatriates throughout Europe.

Meanwhile SBB will become the second company after Greece’s Fortnet to launch triple play services in partnership with Eutelsat.

It plans to offer triple play to subscribers in Serbia, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Slovenia, FYR Macedonia, Croatia and Montenegro.

According to Triantafyllou, the product will require a standard 78cm dish to receive and be attractively priced.
