Digital TV in CEE – PRAGUE. Investment and ad market prospects in CEE remain generally good, and certainly much better than those in Western Europe, in these difficult economic times.
Providing an investor’s perspective, Pior Nocen, founder and managing partner at Resource Partners, said that they are looking for safe havens and that they can be provided by the cable and DTH sectors in CEE.
Also worth following are niche channels and DTT, while mainstream broadcasters and other media are less attractive and mobile TV and IPTV not on their agenda.
Simon Thomas, strategic systems director, GroupM, meanwhile said that CEE’s share of the global ad market is projected to rise from 4% in 2011 to 5% by 2016.
Furthermore, the region as a whole will see 9% growth per year, though there will be large differences between markets.
This will nevertheless be against the backdrop of difficult conditions across the globe, though in particular Western Europe and North America.
Thomas was particularly concerned about 2013, the prospects for which currently look poor.
