Digital TV in CEE – PRAGUE. The paid for model for OTT has died in Poland and the sector is now driven almost entirely by advertising, according to Szymon Karbowski, research and development director at Toya, the country’s fourth largest cable operator.
Toya launched its OTT platform, which is known as 3G TV, in 2010 and has found that 75-80% of its users employ some form of interactivity on the platform on a daily basis.
Furthermore, between 80-85% of usage of apps is for video services.
Karbowski also revealed that Toya has had much more success with transactional than subscription on demand in the case of adult content.
It was one of the first companies in Europe to introduce the US service Fire TV but its take-up has proved disappointing.
