Digital TV in CEE – PRAGUE. CME’s on demand service Voyo is being made available on a number of devices from this summer, with a tablet app having already been launched in Slovenia.
Speaking in the first presentation of the pre-conference entitled OTT TV in CEE, Robert Berza, head of internet division, CME, added that the 55,000 subscription customers that Voyo had at the end of Q1 principally favoured local content, including sports.
In the case of the Czech Republic, for instance, local productions accounted for over 60% of consumption.
Berza also revealed that of the 55,000 subscribers in Q1, 13.000 were in Romania.
He also said that the Voyo site was seen by 1.7 million viewers a month in CME’s six markets, of which over 500,000 were in the Czech Republic.
Berza identified the main challenges faced by Voyo as high piracy, low penetration of payment solutions, low purchase power and undeveloped markets for online paid content.
