The Polish Ministry of Administration and Digitisation has published a new set of proposed amendments to the country’s broadcast law.
According to Wirtualne Media, they relate to VOD services and will now be subject to an open consultation that will last until July 4.
The amendments are in accordance with the European Audiovisual Directive and should have come into effect by the end of December 2009.
In the event, they would have passed into law in March last year but were delayed following protest from the TV and internet sectors.
The new proposed amendments introduce a new definition of VOD as “a media service allowing for the reception of audiovisual broadcasts in chosen times by the recipient, on their demand and based on a catalogue provided by the supplier of this service.”
Significantly, they also no longer include a previous requirement for the services to be approved by the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT).
