Samsung adds football app to smart TVs

June 19, 2012 09.37 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Samsung UK has announced a partnership with motain, creators of The Football App for Samsung’s Smart TV store.

The new app is free for Samsung Smart TV users and offers football fans with in-depth coverage of more than 40 football leagues and events worldwide in five languages. The app is constantly updated to provide football enthusiasts with breaking news, live commentaries and statistics as well as video highlights, ensuring a truly immersive experience.

Including an intuitive interface, the app’s visual panels can be easily navigated, brining users closer to the games that matter. Match day build-ups, press conferences, pre-match reports and player interviews are all included within the app.

“We know that sport content helps drives TV purchases and with this year set to be one of the biggest for UK sport, we’re excited that motain has brought our customers another great reason to maximise their sporting viewing via their Samsung Smart TV. From live tickers, commentaries, league standings and statistics, The Football App will give Smart TV viewers the latest news in UK and global football on the biggest and brightest screen in the house,’’ said Guy Kinnell, marketing director for TV, Samsung UK.

“We’re happy to provide our successful smart phone app on Samsung’s market–leading TV platform as well and experience our premium football content through this attractive channel,’’ said Dr Winfried Graf, managing director of motain.

The football app will be made available on Samsung’s 2011 and 2012 Smart TV and AV range and is available in five languages: English, French, German, Italian and Spanish.
