>ANGA CABLE 2012 – Cologne. Deutsche Telekom is preparing to launch a TV everywhere service called Entertain2Go for tablets, PCs and smartphones.
The operator will launch the new service this autumn. Initially the various features such as streaming live TV, accessing VOD content and the local PVR will only possible in the subscriber’s home.
Telekom hopes to expand the service to everywhere in Germany, but rights with the content owners need to be cleared first. Entertain2Go will not be a free service, Telekom is to set a price when it actually launches later this year.
The company will also introduce an app for phones and tablets, turning them into a remote control for the STBs of the IPTV service.
At the moment, Entertain has 1.8 million subscribers, Christian Illek, marketing manager at Entertain, told the audience at the ANGA Cable opening session.
Of these, one in ten also subscribes to the football tier, Liga Total. Illek expects to sign a deal with Sky D, who owns all football rights from next season. Another 450,000 customers subscribe to an extended tier on the Entertain service.
