Kabelkiosk Choice goes multiscreen

June 13, 2012 11.48 Europe/London By Robert Briel

ANGA CABLE 2012 – Cologne. Eutelsat Kabelkiosk is entering the world of television 2.0 with the launch of the hybrid Kabelkiosk Choice platform.

Viewers will have access to a number of additional content sources and services. An extensive library of titles is offered in the VOD service, all HbbTV apps are accessible, and there is a personalised EPG called ‘mein Fernsehen’ (My TV).

There is also red button link functionality. The first channels taking care of this new functionality are History and the Biography Channel.

Cable operators can include local content and service information, as Kabelkiosk Choice is a white label product.

Kabelkiosk Choice is available on a wide range of CE products, including the TechniSat ISO platform, the Humax Fox-C cable tuner, and a special stand-alone STB called ‘Choice Upgrade’ (ABox42) that turns any flatscreen TV into a connected device.

Kabelkiosk is also going multiscreen with the first demo of Choice on the iPad. This app allows viewers to access their personal TV guide, search in the VOD library and navigate through the various HbbTV apps.

In cooperation with Internetagentur Schott Kabelkiosk will also be offering satellite-delivered (via Ka-Sat) broadband products for the small and medium sized cable operators.

Various packages will be available for the operators so they will be able to offer full triple-play products with both broadband access and telephony. Download speeds of up to 40 Mbps can be achieved using DOCSIS technology.
