UPC Cablecom adds 17 digital channels

June 5, 2012 09.54 Europe/London By Robert Briel

Switzerland’s UPC Cablecom has added 17 new digital channels. A further 21 of the existing channels will now be available in HD.

The German private channels Sat.1, ProSieben and kabel eins, as well as the Swiss entertainment channel 3+, will go live in Switzerland today for the first time in HD quality.

The addition of RTL Nitro and Glitz HD in German-speaking Switzerland integrates two channels with an emphasis on feature films and series.

In French-speaking Switzerland, a variety of French channels will expand the Comfort package. The latest channels in West Switzerland are mainly aimed at viewers interested in documentaries, music and sport.

UPC Cablecom is also focusing on its young viewers with the integration of several new children’s channels.

In Italian-speaking Switzerland, three well-known channels, La 7 d, Rai HD and La 5, have been added to the line-up.
