TV platforms across the Central and East European region are seeking to attract more subscribers ahead of Euro 2012 and Olympic Games, the summer’s two major sporting events.
The latest to do so are the Romanian incumbent Romtelecom, which has completely redesigned its proprietary channel Dolce Sport and made it available free of charge between June 1 and July 1 to all its customers, irrespective of the package they already receive.
Meanwhile in Ukraine, the DTH platform Viasat Ukraine and Volia, the country’s leading cable operator, have started to carry the channel Futbol HD, which is produced by Media Group Ukraine, on an exclusive basis.
Elsewhere, the Polish public broadcaster TVP has launched HD versions of its two main channels ahead of Euro 2012 and the Olympic Games.
