ITV has delivered a much-needed update to its ITV Player or the iPad and iPhone.
The iOS devices will now offer live streaming from ITV1 and ITV2 as well as catch-up TV from ITV1, ITV2, ITV3, ITV4 and CITV.
Streaming will be a welcome addition for football fans, ahead of Euro 2012, to which ITV will share the rights with the BBC.
ITV now also provides streaming through Apple’s Airplay – the last of the UK’s major broadcasters to add the functionality that allows content from the iPhone or iPad to be streamed to a compatible device, such as a TV.
Live content can be played over 3G or Wi-Fi, although catch-up content is available through Wi-Fi alone.
