The ImaginLab platform and TDF will test DVB-T2 broadcasts in Brittanny in addition to the city of Rennes.
ImaginLab, a joint enterprise between the Images & Reseaux ICT technology cluster and the European University of Brittany, was allowed to experiment with the TDF group as technical operator, the new DVB-T2 on channel 43 from transmitters in Cesson Sévigné (Brittany) and Tour of the Spur located in the district of Rennes, for a period of six months from May 15, 2012.
The tests are meant to measure performance of the new standard as part of the migration project to DVB-T2/MPEG4 for all DTT channels in Franfe in 2020.
“Working to ImaginLab, the TDF Group will put its solid advantages of expertise and technical know-how at the service issues that will allow the radio to take a new turn digital in the coming years,” said Jean-Louis Mounier, director industry of TDF. The French media authority CSA had already granted permission in October 2011 to test DVB-T2 in the region of Rennes.
