CONNECTED TV IN POLAND – WARSAW. HbbTV services will be available to only the 32% of viewers in Poland receiving terrestrial TV, according to Tomasz Berezowski, member of the board, CTO, TVN, with the market being split between terrestrial, cable and satellite.
He added that this year has seen the first big fragmentation of the Polish market following the launch of DTT and Q1 was probably the first time that terrestrial TV had started to grow.
Berezowski also said that that this was the first time in 10 years that the ad market in Poland had started to contract.
Grzegorz Stanisz, senior product manager, Samsung Electronics, meanwhile noted that the National Broadcasting Council (KRRiT) had only last week recognised that HbbTV has started in Poland.
He also said that Samsung has spoken with the public broadcaster TVP about HbbTV.
